My Interview

March 13, 2009

So I had my interview for the PCT (Patient Care Technician) job today!  It went really well!   I was only a little nervous because I was told that if I took this training I would be practically guaranteed the job in the end.  However, with that word “practically” in there, I knew it still wasn’t a sure thing!  I figured as long as I was myself and didn’t allow my nerves to get the best of me, I’d be fine!

So by keeping that thought in mind, it really did take the pressure off and the interview went off without a hitch!  I will find out in a week or two if they will give me an offer!  The nice thing about this job is that it is 100% flexible.  You only work when you want to work and there is no minimum hours per week or anything required!  So once I start nursing school I can basically just call them up if I have a slow weekend study-wise and I want to work a shift and they will see if something is available!

Talk about convenient!  To top it off, it pays pretty well too since there are no benefits that come with the job.  (I will get my health care through my husband’s job)  It will be nice to earn a little extra money every now and then plus it will get me some extra experience in the hospital setting!  Yay!

By the way, I just read This Cross I Embrace’s latest post and I’m excited to read the book that’s being passed around!  I am next on the list!  This is something that Sew Infertile started a few months back!  It sounded like TCIE got a lot out of it and like she said in her post, I think it’s coming at a really good time for me!

I hope you all have a wonderful weekend!  As for me, I have very few plans and I’m looking forward to vegging a bit!

Oops, I thought I commented on this post, guess not! I’m so glad that your interview went well – it sounds like a great and flexible job that will give you real world experience for when you are a super nurse! Great job Kacy!

Awesome! I am excited for you to get the book as well!

My mother is a nurse and she tells me about these agencies that you call and work when you want! If it were left up to me I would never work!

Did I congratulate you on getting laid off? If I didn’t congrats! Unemployment was just raised too! ;) Hehehe

Putting you on my blog roll, per your request – I am glad you are letting me do so. I want to give others the opportunity to follow the blog of someone I have genuinely come to admire, as a faithful follower while on their Journey to Parenthood. If you read my blog stats (on the side) you will see that we, in the end, walked away from IVF, before the retrieval . . . yes, partly was because we received the referral match for our daughter, but it was such a relief because I had very conflicted feelings about it as a Catholic. I do NOT begrudge anyone else who does IVF, nor do I judge them (be they Catholic or some other religion). But there was always this nagging thought/worry in my head that if we did IVF and had another m/c, that it would have somehow been because we were pursuing an option that the Catholic Church does not endorse.

I am rambling, but you probably understand where I am coming from.

Just wanted to say I was thinking about you and hope that you have heard some good news by now about the PCT job. It’s so cool to hear how everything is working out with your current job and nursing school, the timing and all. It is a great testimony and a good reminder to me on how God is never late, and always on time :)

Yes, the book SHOULD have been to you at this point already… but I am a lazy, lazy infertile. I sent it First Class on Monday, so it should arrive today or tomorrow!! DEFINATELY by Friday (2-3 days, but it was after 3:00 on Monday, so I don’t know if it went Mon. or Tue.)
    Enjoy!
